More cement?

I opted for premoulded deck blocks because I just was not going to mix more cement... but it took FOREVER to get those things placed and centered and leveled and squared.... not something I planned on initially, but, hey, life doesn't always go as planned... does it?

Going up?

Of course, there was that question of how to actually get the steps up there....?

Stairs?

After a long conversation with the Deputy Environmental Minister of Egypt (my structural engineering advisor) about safety and the responsibility of builders to design structures that will not possibly bring harm to others. I abandoned my initial notion to put a pirate ship ladder up instead of stairs. I had this really nifty idea that I could make the stairs really steep with handrails you really have to use. Plus, I liked it better than putting up a rope ladder. (But that would be pretty neat too!) Anyway, I had to start the steps.... Thanks Ahmed for the much needed direction!

Another good reason for building your own shed

Turning around and seeing the sky through the winter trees, and realizing you would have missed the lovely sunset if you had been inside.

Composit wood

The cool thing about this composit lumber, other than it lasts FOREVER, won't rot, bugs won't eat it, and it's made from recycled plastics, but it's also ubber flexible. Sort of a problem at first, if you think about it. It's very heavy, and sort of a pain to move around. And then it goes all wobbly.
But once it's tacked down, it's really fun. Assuming the joists are close enough to be safe, you sort of get a trampoline feeling. And that is REALLY COOL!!

To the novice this looks like a mess. To someone in the middle of it, it looks like a real mess...
